*** A very warm welcome to all our members, friends and visitors *** |
** STAY SAFE ** 'HANDS FACE SPACE' ** STAY SAFE ** WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ON *** TUESDAY 5TH DECEMBER 2023 *** when we welcome: Allan Taylor to Dartford Folk Club (Please click on the performer's name above to learn more about the act.) It is now generally accepted that Allan Taylor has reached the status of Folk-singing legend. He is one of the last of the travelling troubadours who came through the sixties and carved out a career as a solo singer-songwriter. From the vibrant folk music scene of London playing all of the major folk clubs of the time and then to Greenwich Village, New York, playing legendary clubs, he embraced the issues, images and emotions of this time. For more almost fifty years he has travelled the world performing at festivals, concert halls and clubs and is considered to be one of the foremost singer-songwriters and guitarists in his genre, with more than two hundred recorded versions of his songs by other artists in ten different languages. One song in particular, "It's good to see you" was a hit in many countries, and to date, there are more than one hundred cover versions of this song. Allan is considered to be one of the scene's great guitarists, creating a distinctive rich and mellow sound, and with a voice that speaks of a life-time of travel he can make each song a vignette of life, like a story told over a drink in a bar. His songs have an integrity that tell you they come from something real, where characters come to life, reminding the listener of someone they might know, and places become as familiar as if you had been there. When this happens, you know it's an Allan Taylor concert. As he says at the beginning of each concert, "Sit back and enjoy the journey." *** Please note our NEW START TIME *** Doors Open at 7.15pm with the evening starting at 8pm. NO RESERVED SEATING! Please do come early if you are planning to sit with a large group of friends. For further information, please E-mail: dartfordfolkclub@gmail.com |

PAM & ALAN COLLS
Founders of the Dartford Folk Club, Pam and Alan Colls ran the Club together for over 40 years, booking an amazing variety of artists within the Folk genre. Sadly neither are with us anymore but, when everyone feels safe to gather again in large numbers, we plan to hold a celebration of their lives to remember their friendship, achievements and contributions to the music world. The Dartford Folk Club is now managed by a small team of original members in memory of and as a legacy to Pam & Alan's love for music.
