How to find us

BY RAIL

Dartford Railway Station is within ten minutes walk of the venue.
Come out of the station, turn right and walk straight past the Railway Hotel (Mr Q's) and down the slipway and steps to the pedestrian crossing in front of a large ugly monstrosity housing Matalan, MFI etc. When you have crossed the pedestrian crossing, turn left and walk to more traffic lights. Cross the road and then go along Westgate Road (Pizza Hut and B&Q will now be on your right on the other side of the road. *). Take the first turning on the left which is Kent Road. (Fishers Stationers will be to your left and Kwik Fit is on the opposite corner). Continue onwards and you will see the Air nightclub (formerly Zen's). Cross the road and turn right into Essex Road. The Dartford Working Men's (CIU) Club will be on your left.

BY ROAD

* BE AWARE THAT THE DARTFORD TOWN ROAD SYSTEM HAS BEEN ALTERED AND THERE ARE SOME TWO WAY STREETS THAT WERE ONCE ONE WAY!!! - THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE !

On entering Dartford coming from any direction, look for the Town Centre road sign displays. All main roads will converge into the one way system around the town centre. When you reach the section of the ring road which is two-way traffic, keep a look out for the large store complex including Pizza Hut and B&Q on your left hand side as you sweep round the bend of the road. You should get into the right lane as you approach the traffic lights then turn right (immediately after Kwik Fit) into Kent Road. The public car park will be on your left. Air nightclub (formerly Zen's) will be on the right. The Dartford Working Men's (CIU Affiliated) Club is a right turn into Essex Road and located on the left hand side. Parking is usually available outside early evening, or in the side road opposite.

WELL DONE - YOU HAVE FOUND THE CLUB !

How to get in

Enter the club through the front entrance. They have an electronic key entry system and if you arrive really early, you may need to ring the bell for the exceptionally friendly bar staff and club steward to let you in. After 8pm, being a Tuesday night, they will be expecting you and the key entry will normally be switched off!

The main bar is to your right. If you want a drink you will need to buy it here as the bar area in the folk club room is not used. Go through another set of doors where the function room is located on the right.

You do NOT need to be a member of the Working Men's Club, CIU, OR the Folk Club to come along.

If you are male and not a CIU-affiliate member, Pam will ask you to sign the book. (If you are female you don't need to sign in.) This is merely to comply with the licensing regulations and will cost you nothing extra!

In line with the law, smoking is not allowed anywhere on the premises. However, railings have been installed at the front of the building together with tables and umbrellas where you may smoke.

JUST A THOUGHT - but it IS appreciated by many of the audience and artists if you wait until the end of a song before you come in or go out.

Should you get completely lost on the night, the venue only telephone number is 01322 223646 (For booking and other enquiries etc - call Pam and Alan on 01322 222553)

If you found these instructions useful or they need improvement, please let us know. I've lived in Dartford all my life and could walk the place blindfold. One day I hope to walk away from it completely !
